Murder charges have been laid against a father, 38, and his son, 14, after the death of a man at his buck's night two weeks before he was to be married.
Gavin Paul Williams, 24, died from massive head injuries sustained when he was knocked to the ground and had his head stomped on.
Both appeared in court this week on grievous bodily harm charges, yesterday upgraded to murder.
The father, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was remanded in custody to appear in the Perth Supreme Court next week for a mandatory bail application.
Defence lawyer Ron Cannon said he was surprised the charge was upgraded to murder, which meant his client could spend up to a year in jail on a charge that "would never succeed".
His son, 14, released on $5000 bail when he faced court on Tuesday, was refused bail on the murder charge yesterday.
He also faced an additional charge of unlawful wounding against a second man at the buck's night. He was remanded in custody until October 14, when a full bail application will be heard.
