Bishop of Lichfield

Dr. John Hough, translated from the diocese of Oxford, in 1699, to that of Lichfield. He played no inconsiderable part in the Revolution struggle, having been elected by the Fellows of Magdalen College, Oxford, to the Presidency, in place of the nominee of James II, and having maintained his position in spite of the resistance of the Court.
