Joe

This is Joseph Beaumont, a tradesman of Trim, who had some inventive and literary proclivities. 'The grey old fellow, poet Joe,' Swift calls him, in the poem On the house at Castleknock. He had some pecuniary claim on the Government for certain inventions, and Swift was ready to use his influence to secure the recognition of that claim.
