The Poems of Jonathan Swift, ed. Harold Williams, 1937, i. 251 f. It was to appear again in Cowper's Task ('The Sofa', 447 if.) and in Wordsworth's 'The Brothers' (60 ff.). Wordsworth's description of the calenture was 'sketched from an imperfect recollection of an admirable one in prose, by Mr. [William] Gilbert, author of The Hurricane'.
