Incidentally
From 'Vocabulary' part of The ABC Of Plain Words by Sir E Gowers (1951)

Incidentally, like actually and definitely, is today much used in talk, with little meaning, if any. It is just a precautionary noise. That may partly account for the use of incidentally in writing as an apology for irrelevance. It should not be allowed to make writers forget their duty to sustain an orderly sequence of thought.
