AN Ipswich man killed his 81-year-old grandmother after she criticised him for not doing his share of the housework, a court heard yesterday.
Brett Adam Crowley, now 20, became so angry he took a large kitchen knife and chased Violet Cowley into her bedroom where he smothered her with pillows and stabbed her in the neck, the Supreme Court in Brisbane was told yesterday.
Crowley yesterday pleaded not guilty to murdering his grandmother at their shared apartment in Raceview at Ipswich in June 2006.
Prosecutor Simone Bayne told the jury they would hear evidence that Crowley made admissions to friends and police after the killing.
"The Crown says an ordinary person, when accused of not doing his washing, does not respond in such a fatal way;" she said.
The trial continues.
