QUEENSLAND'S Finance Sector Union claims understaffing at ANZ branches has led to customers verbally abusing staff and turning against each other in long queues.
FSU state secretary Mark Lynch yesterday said some branch workers were pushed to breaking point.
He warned management of "further action" if staff numbers were not increased to meet demand.
Mr Lynch said verbal abuse of staff was becoming "more common by the day".
ANZ national spokesman Paul Edwards' said staff might occasionally be subject to verbal abuse but he 'was unaware of union claims of widespread problems'.
Mr Paul Edwards said internal scheduling processes ensured staff levels were sufficient to meet demand, delivering "a good level of customer service", and he invited the union to discuss issues with management.
