Onondaga
Note from The Achievement of France
in Part One of Reflections On The Revolution In France

An Indian village in New York state near the site of the present town of Syracuse. The Onondagas were one of the Iroquois confederacy. Champlain attacked their fortress unsuccessfully in 1615. Burke had written an early book on 'European Settlements in America', drawing his information largely from the accounts of French Jesuits who had a mission in Onondaga.
